This recipe was inspired by a craving I have had for a while. As much as I love egg rolls, I do not enjoy all the extra carbs that comes with them when eating at a Chinese restaurant. So here is my version of egg rolls.
Servings: 2
Ingredients:
- 1 tsp. of chili powder
- 1/2 tbls. of smoked paprika
- 1 tbls. of dried sage
- 1 tbls. of dried thyme
- 1 tbls. of pepper
- 1 tbls. of garlic powder
- 2 tsp. of salt
- 2 tbls. of extra-virgin olive oil divided
- 1 tbls. of maple syrup
- 1 lb. of extra lean ground turkey
- 4-6 cups of chopped or shredded cabbage
Optional Ingredients:
- green onions
- 1 tsp. sesame seed oil
- 1 tsp. sesame seeds
- sriracha
Directions:
- Mix all the spices thoroughly with the turkey.
- Mix olive oil and maple syrup with the turkey
- Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to a pan and begin to cook meat until browned.
- Add cabbage and begin to cook until wilted, not translucent. Cooking until wilted gives it a nice crunch.
- If so desired, top with green onions, sesame seed oil, sesame seeds and sriracha.
